Good job Rachelle. By the time the warm weather rolls around you are going to be super tough from all these wintery snowy runs!

From Stacy on Wed, Jan 02, 2008 at 21:06:59

It's so nice that Kory runs with you. It must make it a lot easier to get those miles in. Keep up the good work.

Well my running partner and best friend Kory seemed a bit tired tonight ( lack of sleep last night )Although he all but begged me to let him go. (boo hoo)But I told him I would run without him tonight . Well I did it this is the first time ever running 3 days in a row I ran 2.13 miles at a 11.43pace I felt pretty good after I got started it was a little colder tonight my hands are still cold while typing but it was a great run.

Great job! It is hard to run very far alone. and congrats on the 3 days in a row. You are making some awesome progress!!! 2008 is going to bring a lot of PRs for you.

From wheakory on Thu, Jan 03, 2008 at 13:06:43

What my wife forgot to mention is she started the run after 7pm at 12 degrees with a little bit of wind. I'm proud of her and she's doing very well.

From Stacy on Thu, Jan 03, 2008 at 20:18:55

Way to go! It's always difficult to run by yourself. You are becoming a real runner, what with all the running in the cold and dark. Keep up the good work.

Tonight I ran with Kory and my sister in law Kathy we ran at an 11:47 average pace I had a horrible headach today and thought that the cool night air would help a little but I still have it not as bad but will go to bed early, It seemed very dark tonight with a wind but it was warmer about 23 degrees amazing how a few numbers feel so much warmer. My girls 11 and 8 came home from school arguing about everything and I tried to get them to talk about the issues but they could not figure that one out, so I told them to go for a run and come back and meet and talk thing over amazing ,they both ran 1.3 miles and they were ready to talk and be nice to each other and they also got some good excerise in and amazingly they talked to each other with respect the rest of the evening. Hopefully I am on to something ha ah.

Oh my gosh, that is PURE GENIUS to have your girls go for a run before trying to talk about their issues. Cute! I'm going to have to try that one. Good job on your run!

Hey I like the new parenting factor to running! Let me know if that contiues to fix fighting.... it may become as regular as meals at my house!!! :)

Today I woke up at 530am with killer migrane wasn't sure I was going to be able to run today because the med. I take wipes me out, but by noon I was feeling much better, we have had wind warnings all day ,until sometime tomorrow so running outside for me was not going to happen (Yep I chickened out), So  at about 815pm I got on the tread mill and decided to run, I ran 2 miles at 4.6 (approx 13:00 min mile) a little slower than I have been outside, but I did not want to push my luck, I then did a cool down walking mile at a 3.0 speed.

Well what a run It was windy when we left the house we had parked the car 2 miles out with the wind behind me well that was the plan anyway well as we began running the wind had another mind of it's own so we ran with the wind everywhere it was blowing in every direction and then the snow came and it got cold real quick we got to the car and guess what I had locked the doors and the keys were now at home. So I told Kory well we better head back of as we were going back the weather was getting worse Kory said I know a short cut so we headed into a different direction and he took me through some lovely mud not knowing if we should sink or swim we made it through the mud, continued to run on home and Kory left me behind as the weather was icky He got the truck grabbed my keys and came and picked me up to go get the car, as we got almost their I looked over and noticed he had my keys not his so we had to turn around and go get his keys to unlock my doors needless to say we are still laughing at only wanting 2 miles but ended up with more. I have to say this is the worst weather I have ever ran in and I don't like it.

Ran 3:00 miles at an average pace of 11:23  And .33 at an average pace of 13.23

Well, running in the snow/wind/cold isn't always fun, but at least you had good company (and a good laugh). Keep up the good work!

Your right Stacy I did have great company and a very good laugh.

Not much today slight sore throat and feeling real tired, .33 took 5,   3yr olds for a small walk in the snow to get some fresh air, and .65 on Treadmill. So no run today, but did manage to get a walk in. Early to bed tonight hope to run tomorrow.

Your doing great. The most important thing is your thinking and trying to do some exercise on a day where your fatigued. Good job and your going to improve on running each week. Your impressive and doing great.

From laura on Tue, Jan 08, 2008 at 16:00:44

I'm sorry about your sore throat!! But I bet you could count that walk with 5 3-year olds as 2 miles cuz I'm sure it was about that crazy!! I go walking with our kids and I'm more tired after 1/2 a mile than a 3 mile run!

From rachelle on Tue, Jan 08, 2008 at 18:10:57

Laura, It really isn't so bad walking with them it really is a matter of making sure they hold hands and stay away from the side of the road we always play games and look for things around us. Children this age sure can notice a lot of things although there are days it is hard to keep everyone going.

Today I ran on the Treadmill it was blowing outside and I didn't want to run in the wind, So I ran at a 4.7 pace, I sure like running outside much better but it is nice to have a TM as a back up to keep the endurance building.

Good job! Way to run on the indoor torture chamber.

From Stacy on Tue, Jan 08, 2008 at 19:56:56

I don't know. I don't really like the treadmill, but can it really be considered torture? If so, those guys a Guantanamo got it all wrong.

From Ali on Tue, Jan 08, 2008 at 20:09:38

I hate the treadmill. I would call it torture. There is nothing like running outside and knowing as far as you go you have to turn around and go back. Idaho can be really bad with the weather and wind. Is pocatello really windy? I grew up in Idaho Falls and it seemed it was always blowing. Keep up the good work. I think that its great you have picked up something that you and your husband can do together. MY husband always tells me he will run a hundred yards with me and thats about it.

From rachelle on Tue, Jan 08, 2008 at 21:22:08

Ali, yes it seems like there is always a wind of some sort and for running with my husband I used to be the one to tell him I wouldn't even run to the corner with him and then a reality check happened I couldn't run and keep up with my kids so I had to find something that would help me with keep up with them, And Kory just happens to love running so he is a great encouragement without being pushy. Where do you live now.

From Michelle on Tue, Jan 08, 2008 at 21:45:41

Good job getting it done on the treadmill...yes it's pure torture in my book!!! I always quit after 2 miles or take breaks after each mile and I still hate it!!!

From Ali on Wed, Jan 09, 2008 at 17:38:52

I live in Spanish Fork now. I've lived in Utah since 1996. After I graduated from high school I wanted to get out of Idaho.

I have been married for 10 years and have 4 kids. My husband works in law enforcement so his retirement is what is keeping us here right now.

From Bethany on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 00:07:59

Oh, the dreadmill. Its a love hate relationship for sure. Good job getting those 2 in though! I cant manage more than 2 lately without losing my mind. But, I prefer that to braving the wind and cold! Great job being consistent and fitting it all in!

Today as I decided to run I really didn't have a plan so as I started I felt pretty good, So I ended up running 3.00 miles at12.12 average pace Before we left the house my children asked if they could run with us when we got back so we did my 3 yr old son ran .16 and then heard a train, and he has started not to like them, he said they are to noisy and he started crying to go home so we did, My girls finished running with daddy .60 of a mile. It is pretty neat that we can all do this together. Thanks again honey for running with us..

That's great...what a funny story about you little boy not liking trains. My boys have always been obsessed with them and love seeing them...it's probably more normal to not like the loud scary things.

From Bethany on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 23:39:59

That is so great that everyone wants to get out and run! What an example of fitness. Plus it wears those extra energetic kids down for bed time...Great run!

From rachelle on Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 09:07:49

Tonight I ran with Kory all of my children stayed at there friends house tonight , I think that it has been at least 2 years ago that we did not have at least one of our children at home with us for the night, I almost feel lost, our average pace was 12:02. My pace seeems to be getting a little better and I am thinking about trying a 10k this summer. I have been having some sharp pains in my right knee again for most of the day today, but it didn't seem to bother me to much during the run. When we were through running Kory took me out to dinner and it was very enjoyable It was nice to have quality time together.

What cross training did you do? I hope it is doing the trick for your poor knee! I have a trick knee as well and hate it when it acts up. Hope you can have a great run again soon. (ugg, treadmill tomorrow, can a run ever be great on the treadmill? Way to stay at it!)

From rachelle on Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 18:04:03

Bethany I am working my calfs, quauds, and whatever else Kory thinks I need I don't know to much about cross training so I just do what he thinks.

From wheakory on Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 20:02:17

Hi Bethany, thought I would reply were working the quads, calves, and hamstrings to try to strengthen the muscle areas. Also do core ab work.

I'm doing it to with her, because I feel it does help your training and performance. I really felt my quads on my 17 miler today after doing the weights last night.

Well I managed to pull the dreadmill off tonight  It has been a very busy day and evening but God is always good to us. I learned tonight that I must have worked my legs and my abs pretty good last night because it hurt to run sore muscles I guess thats good at least thats what they say, anyway did 2 miles at 4.6 pace on the dreadmill I did stop .5 once I was just to hot. But I got 2 miles in.

Hey, Lybi, I have not been running a whole lot it seems like life has taken over and I can't seem to find time to do anything and the little running that I have been doing seems not enough to keep track of any way I am still around and hopefully life will slow down.

Race: Ogdon 5 K (3.1 Miles) 00:38:00
Total Distance

First of all for those that have askedme,  yes I am still running a little I have not had time to log to much seems like life is to busy  We are getting ready to expand my family childcare and get our home back, also my children all have there own activities, I am lucky to even get to run so when I, do usually I don't have time to log, For the race.

I ran the 5K at the first mile 11:54, 2nd mile 12:36 finishing with 12:10 This was a nice race  Kory ran the Whole Marathon both Dallyce(25:04)and Grace (38:11) ran the 5K And Vance age 3 ran the kids K so we all ran and had a great time and finishing with the the Fun Dinousaour Park the kids had a blast and we had a great time the volenteers  were great. I would run this again. Although I had heard that one of the St. George running team members had told a couple of walkers to move and called them a loser for all you Marathon runners who think you are better than anyone else, you are wrong, I run the  5K and to me it is very challenging just like those of you who run long runs My mother in law walks the 5k and to her it is also very challenging hands up to those long runners that encourage us short runners, walkers to continue to strive to our best.
